RWE Dea – Fourth oil discovery in Libya
Hamburg/Tripoli 16 October 2007 – RWE Dea is pleased to announce its fourth oil discovery in the Sirte Basin onshore Libya. Following two successful wells in NC193 and one in NC195, the exploration well C1-NC193, drilled by Adwoc's Rig 2 encountered an oil pool within the Hon formation at a depth of 878m. During a production test an oil flow of 393 bbls/d at a choke size of 32/64Ó was established. Further appraisal activities will be required to delineate antici-pated reserves and verify the feasibility of an economical development.
RWE Dea's licence acreage in Libya covers a total of 30.000 sqkm over six concessions which were awarded to the company by the National Oil Corporation of Libya in May 2003. RWE Dea is the Operator with a 100% participation interest in the concessions.
RWE Dea's current drilling campaign in Libya is targeting further promising prospects for hy-drocarbons in NC194, NC195 and NC197, and the appraisal of already encountered volumes in the Concessions NC193 and NC195.
