RWE Dea UK offered five blocks in 23rd Licensing Round
London, 9 September 2005 RWE Dea UK is pleased to announce that it has
been offered five exploration blocks out of the 23rd
UK Offshore Licensing Round. Two of the blocks are in
the central sector of the North Sea, a new area for
RWE Dea, and three blocks are adjacent to the company's
existing southern North Sea licensed acreage.
The blocks awarded to RWE and its partners are as follows:
Blocks 22/20b and 30/1g are traditional licences and will be operated by GDF Britain, with RWE Dea, E.On Ruhrgas and Endeavour as partners. These represent RWE Dea's first interests in the important and prolific Central North Sea sector of the UKCS.
A promote licence, covering blocks 48/5 (split), 48/10c and 49/1b, operated by RWE Dea, with Caledonia Caister and Euroil as partners. These blocks are located between RWE Dea's interests in the Saturn fields and the Topaz development and will thus complement RWE Dea's existing Southern North Sea portfolio.
Christoph Schlichter, Managing Director of RWE Dea UK, commented:
'We are very pleased to have been offered our first exploration blocks in the UK Central North Sea. This is an area of particular new venture focus for RWE Dea, both in UK and Norwegian waters. Furthermore, the addition of further blocks in the Southern North Sea which complement our existing exploration acreage will allow us to develop our portfolio efficiently.'
