Rockhopper Exploration Limited announce appointment
of Pierre Jungels as Executive Chairman
Rockhopper Exploration Limited, a new UK-based oil exploration and production company, has announced the appointment as executive chairman of Dr Pierre Jungels. He will take up his role formally in February 2005.
Dr Jungels, who holds a PhD in Geophysics & Hydraulics from the California Institute of Technology, has over 30 years experience in the oil industry. He is currently chairman of AiMlisted Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping plc and also holds non-executive directorships at Woodside Petroleum Ltd, Offshore Logistics, Inc, and Imperial Tobacco plc.
Rockhopper Exploration, as Crude Oil and Gas Limited, announced in December that the Falkland Islands Government had awarded it two exploration/production licences in the North Falkland Basin, covering an area of 4,203 square kilometres. The licences, PL023 and PL024, are located in the North Falkland Basin, 50 kilometres to the north of the Islands. The company plans to conduct an extensive work programme over the area in the next few years with a focus on developing the region’s exploration potential.
