OHM Meets Growing CSEM Demand with Dedicated Survey Vessel: 'OHM Express' chartered for five years
Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping plc ("OHM or "the Company") announced today that it has secured a dedicated CSEM vessel for a five-year charter with Norway-based Seatrans. The 110 metres long 'OHM Express' is due to launch in May 2007, and follows the Company's November 2006 announcement of five-month charter survey of the CS Teneo.
Dave Pratt, Chief Executive Officer of OHM said:
"OHM has traditionally opted for survey vessels that utilised the portability of the OHM technology. However, the growing demand for our industry-leading technology and the tight shipping market have demonstrated that a dedicated-survey vessel is required for the longer-term."
"As it stands right now, OHM's Atlantic Ocean order book backlog requires a dedicated vessel for surveys that can be conducted quickly, efficiently and safely for our clients. The reputation for innovation of Seatrans made the company a logical choice for the OHM technology and solutions."
OHM's engineering team have been working closely with Seatrans over the last months to complete the design for the conversion of the vessel to CSEM operations. With options to extend the five-year deal, the vessel offers:
Fast, economical transit performance
Dynamic positioning
Dedicated launch / recovery garage for OHM's CSEM transmitter
Completely mechanised handling of CSEM receivers to and from below decks storage facilities to preparation area and directly to the waterline
Continuous high speed data link to shore
The OHM Express is due to conduct first survey work in the North Sea in May 2007. Commenting on the deal, Johan Hvide, from Seatrans added:
"We are delighted to have been chosen by OHM to support their CSEM needs over the next five years. At Seatrans we specialise in engineering our vessels to provide innovative solutions to maximise the efficiency of our clients' offshore operations. This, together with our commitment to safety and quality, which is second to none, was a key factor in OHM's decision to select our vessel for this charter."
